A powder obtained by roasting gram whole, maize or barley and grinding in mill is called Sutu. People drink it mostly in the summer season. It’s an important part of daily meal in rural areas. Gram whole suttu offers protein, while carbohydrates are found in maize suttu. Both are used equally in suttu. Suttu is easily found from bazar. Raw sugar suttu is also popular among people. It’s useful for human health. Only one glass of suttu relieves from heat, thirst and tiredness after breaking the fast in the month of Holy Ramadan. It’s free from all kinds of side effects. A few kinds of Suttu are described as under:
Barley Suttu:
It’s cold, anti-heat, anti-constipation, and relieves in phlegmatic problems. Mixing it in water along with raw sugar will turn it into healthy, anti-phlegm, anti-cold having delicious taste.
Barley and Gram Whole Suttu:
Roast gram whole, remove its shell, grind and mix in barley sattu at the ratio of 1:3. It’s called barley and gram whole suttu. It’s very useful while mixing in water along with ghee and sugar during the sizzling summer.
Rice Suttu:
It’s an anti-heat, lighter, cold, and sweet, tasty and healthy drink. It’s useful in summer.
Barley, Wheat and Gram Whole Suttu:
Wet gram whole pulse, one kg, wheat half kg and barley 200gms in water separately and roast. Then grind them jointly to make powder. Mix in water to make a drink or make a thick paste to eat with spoon. Sugar or raw sugar or salt can also be added to develop the taste.

Acidity patients can use gram whole suttu. Mix gram whole suttu in water along with a bit salt and roasted cumin in water and get protected from sun stroke. Gram whole is anti-phlegm therefore mixing two table spoons of gram whole suttu in 250ml milk before going to bed in the evening will help to extract the phlegm and relief from cough. In case of frequent urinating, mix raw sugar in its suttu. Take two spoons gram whole suttu, eat five pieces of almond and drink 250ml milk. It is useful for men’s certain problems. Daily usage of gram whole suttu in the night is useful for getting relief from piles. In case of having deep wound, then make a paste by mixing gram whole suttu with Alsi oil and apply this paste on the wound.
Precautions:
Despite the fact suttu is useful but its uncontrolled usage may harmful. Therefore utilization within given limits is recommended. Frequent usage of gram whole suttu may cause gas trouble in the stomach. It’s also harmful for stone patients. It should not use in the problem of leprosy. Try to avoid it in the season of raining. Don’t drink water while eating suttu. Take suttu only once in a day. Don’t take suttu after having food. Suttu alone may cause harmful therefore It’s recommended to take it with salt or sugar etc.
