Aziz-ur-Rahman Aziz (late), Peshawar
One day, before going to Madrasah I asked my wife to cook khichree for me and brought her all the ingredients. When I went back from Madrasah, khichree was ready for me. I washed hands and took first bite….perhaps my wife had mistakenly salted it twice or thrice!!!
Sheikh-ul-Quran and Hadith was a kind teacher of Dar-ul-Uloom (university). He taught Quran and Hadith for forty years in a very impressive style. He was very compassionate and caring and used to treat his students with great love. It was due to his gentle behavior and affection that when he died, all the students were distressed if they could ever have a kind and compassionate teacher like him.
As all the students were disturbed, one day a student saw his teacher in his dream. He expressed his admiration for the student. The student asked him, “Sir you are not changed at all rather you look younger than your age, how did it happen”? The teacher replied, “I also thought that I was blessed for having taught millions of students for forty years but I was surprised to know that it was due to something I overlooked considering it a very small act. I could not think of such a big reward for that small act. Truly a deed admired by Allah the Merciful becomes priceless.
This is how it happened…. Khichree (porridge made with rice and lentils) is my favorite dish. I like it so much that I prefer it over all the other delights of the world. Perhaps some people do not like it but it’s my favorite.
One day, before going to Madrasah I asked my wife to cook khichree for me and brought her all the ingredients. When I returned from Madrasah, khichree was ready for me. I washed hands and took first bite….perhaps my wife had mistakenly salted it twice or thrice!!! I thought of throwing hot khichree on her face to punish her. But Allah the Merciful put tolerance for her in my heart. I enjoyed eating it and felt that even well-cooked khichree could not be so delicious. I thought that if she remembered, she would never have done it. I did not even let her know that she had put so much salt and licked the plate before returning it to her. She was so pleased to see that I was happy with her. As Allah the Great and Merciful has said, “Have mercy on those on earth and Allah the Lord of the skies will have mercy on you”. It was Allah’s will that in comparison of being Shaikh-al-Quran and Hadith who taught millions of students for forty years, He was more Merciful upon me for being tolerant to the people on earth. Due to this kind deed I found my way to heaven. According to a hadith, “You should be kind to your family and Allah will be kind to you”.
